Project Management in the "" ...1990s, 1890s, 2090s, and some times before...
Written by Robert C. Newbold in the late 1990s (and still available in print this book provides an interesting aspect to project managagement for larger firms. Definitely focused on the 'enterprise' yet also with common sense advice for the sensible reader - particularly the notion of applying old school 'just in time inventory' to managing software projects.
The grok of the proposition is to simply take just in time manufacturing management processes that became so fashionable in the 80s and re-apply them to software project management. Whether his ideas actually work in the real world or not is entirely another issue. Nonetheless Mr. Nobdeld's innovaate take on how to attempt to rework best practices was refreshing.
